Hi Sanaz, thank you for letting us get a glimpse of who you are! Tell us a bit about yourself, and specially about what inspired you to move from Iran to the Netherlands.
Hello! My name is Sanaz Nikkhoo and I immigrated from Iran to the Netherlands to start a new chapter of my life in a different area.
I arrived in the Netherlands in 2022 as an MBA student. This was my second master's degree, but that didn’t make it any easier than the first. Even though building a completely new life, finding a new job, integrating with the new society around, learning a new language, meeting new people and even getting used to a new climate seems tough, these challenges made my life meaningful and purposeful.
Wow, I'm glad you could see the positive side of things in such a challenging situation. Can you tell us about your career journey before joining Blue Wireless?
You always have to be positive. After my graduation in March 2023, I started learning Dutch regularly. My colleagues are very supportive. They encourage me to speak Dutch, which makes it a lot of fun. On this journey, I applied for various jobs based on my background and education. Ah! I almost forgot to mention that, back in my country, I worked as an IT manager in hospitals and clinical environments. While searching for a new job, I realized it was the perfect time to shift my career, gain new experiences, and refresh my knowledge.
Smart move! How did you discover the opportunity at Wireless Logic BV, and what attracted you to the role?
I was invited by the Wireless Logic BV for an interview. The interviewer described the job and the environment more or less like this:
“This Job is about providing and supporting Internet connectivity and hardware maintenance for the cruise ships on the Danube and Rhine. Most of the work is remote but if it is necessary you will go on board.”
Sounds fantastic! Right? I now know that it is indeed fulfilling! Knowing that some of the employees have been working here for more than ten years was a bright signal for me that this company values its employees and excels in attracting and retaining talent, considering people as the most valuable asset. Therefore, I accepted the offer without hesitation and started my job in September 2023, I am still content with my decision.
Have you ever heard about our canine colleague in the office?
Her name is Maya, Hans’s dog. I should confess she didn’t like me at first but now we are friends! I love dogs and finally, she realized that.
What has your experience been like working with the Blue Wireless Maritime team?
I was hoping you'd ask! Let me tell you more about Blue Wireless Maritime. Working as a support engineer includes responsibilities such as supporting the crew to work smoothly, following up on their requests and preparing a monthly overview for some clients. To expand our support, a part of our team is located in Hungary, and the other part is in the Netherlands. This distance has not affected our integration and the quality of our teamwork.
Although there are not a lot of members on this team, all of them are experienced professionals, skilled in innovative and creative solutions, full of new ideas and passionate about leading the company forward. You can’t feel the hierarchy or complexity of bureaucracy here. Everybody is supportive and tries to assist others in a friendly way. I enjoy day to day work with these colleagues.
I also have a cute dog. His name is Chino and since 2023 he has been a lovely member of my family. Nowadays, going for long walks and discovering beautiful nature with him is one of my favorite hobbies. Besides that, watching series and movies with my family is pleasant to me.
